The first superstar in the world of gospel music was Sister Rosetta Tharpe. It was her style of singing and playing the guitar that gave the future stars of Rock n Roll, Blues and RnB the basis for the radical sound. She influenced stars from the likes of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and many more. She was indeed ahead of her time but still managed to become a star in her own right while breaking many barriers.
