/PIC OF THE DAY #AKingAndAQueen🔱 #WhenWorldsCollide #HipHopSoul = #DJKoolHerc #MelbaMoore @officialdjkoolherc x @melba1moore #RespectYourArchitects On August 11, 1973 while #HipHop's father #KoolHerc was doing his very first party in the #RecRoom community center at #1520SedgwickAve in #TheBronx, three years earlier than that, the legendary singer/actress #MelbaMoore had already snagged a #TonyAward for #BestPerformanceByAFeaturedActressInAMusical for her starring role as #Lutiebelle in the 1970 #Broadway play #Purlie. Two years later in the summer of 1972, she had also co-starred in the #CBS "real life couple" variety TV show, #TheMelbaMooreAndCliftonDavisShow. And the rest is history for Melba. Herc went on as the premier #dj of the early 70's who would spark the initial concept of "two turntables and a microphone" ...defining something that later became better known as "Hip Hop." This photo is interesting in showing how two different worlds collide. Each one has unknowingly affected another musically... only for them to finally meet one day and appreciate their differences. "You stepped into my life and I'm oh so happy." For real. EMB🐝
