Southern Soul / Blues Singer Mel Waiters had died.

The San Antonio born Mel Waiters has died early thursday at the age of 58 due to complications from cancer. Mel started his career in the early 70's playing a teen parties and on military bases. His career began to take off in the late 90s on into the early 2000's with a string of Southern Soul hits like "Hole in the Wall", "Smaller the Club" and 'Whiskey". He was also known to have energetic shows that would often pack the house of every venue that he performed.

He is survived by his wife, Portia and daughter, Brittany.
